INSTRUCTIONS

Head

Rnd 1: In tan, make an adjustable ring and work 5 sc in the ring, do not join, place marker to mark the first stitch of the next rnd: 5 sc.
Rnd 2: [2 Sc in each sc] 5 times: 10 sc.
Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 15 sc.
Rnd 4: [Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 20 sc.
Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 25 sc.
Rnd 6: [Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 30 sc.
Rnd 7: [Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 35 sc.
Rnd 8: [Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 40 sc.
Rnd 9: [Sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 45 sc.
Rnds 10-17: Sc in each sc around. Also, at this point it’s a good idea to put the eyes in if you’re planning on using them before it gets too tight to insert anything.  I put the eyes 9 sts apart, in Rnd 14.
Rnd 18: [Sc in next 7 sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 40 sc.
Rnd 19: [Sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 35 sc.
Rnd 20: [Sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 30 sc.
Rnd 21: [Sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 25 sc.
Rnd 22: [Sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 20 sc.
Rnd 23: [Sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 15 sc. Stuff the head with poly-fil/wool as tightly as you can get it, since essentially you’ll be making a ball and won’t be able to stuff again.
Rnd 24: [Sc in next sc, sc2tog] 5 times: 10 sc.
Rnd 25: Sc2tog 5 times: 5 sc. Fasten off; using the yarn and a yarn needle close up the hole by stitching back and forth across the little opening, weave yarn into head. Using the dark pink colored embroidery floss, embroider a wide fly stitch to create the mouth onto her face hiding the knot on the underside of the head.

Hair/Wig Cap

The wig cap will be crocheted to fit around the head stopping right before you get to the point where you start decreasing.
Rnd 1: In brown, make an adjustable ring and work 5 sc in the ring, do not join, place marker to mark the first stitch of the next rnd: 5 sc.
Rnd 2: [2 Sc in each sc] 5 times: 10 sc.
Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 15 sc.
Rnd 4: [Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 20 sc.
Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 25 sc.
Rnd 6: [Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 30 sc.
Rnd 7: [Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 35 sc.
Rnd 8: [Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 40 sc.
Rnd 9: [Sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 5 times: 45 sc.
Rnds 10 and 11: Dc in each st around ----- 45 sts.
Fasten off, and leave a length to sew the cap to the head after you’ve made the hair.  After attaching the wig cap to the head, cut a length of yarn that you are comfortable working with and begin to embroider a hairstyle onto the head. The easiest way I find to do this is to decide where the hair part will be and then do one side at a time with each piece of yarn, going back and forth filling in one side of the head making sure there are no gaps until you run out of yarn.  Each time you run out of yarn, rethread the needle and work on the opposite side to ensure that you’re filling in the hair evenly.  Continue to do this until you are satisfied with the appearance of the hair and fasten off that last piece of yarn and weave it into the hair hiding the end.

FINISHING

If you haven’t joined the arms, then just pinch the top of each one together and sew it closed, and then sew the arms around the top of the body wherever you’d like them to be.
Sew the legs to the bottom of the torso, making sure that they are securely attached; once comfortable with the security of each leg, weave in the remaining yarn.
Using an 18 inch length of green yarn, attach each of the petals to Rnd 9 of the torso, making sure that each petal is attached to 2 of the stitches in the round. Weave in the remaining yarn when you are comfortable with the security of the petals.  At this point you can sew the wings to the back of the torso using the remaining yarn, or you can cut another length of the green yarn to attach the wings.
Sew the body to the head, going around until you’re comfortable with the security of the stitching, when you’ve used up most of the yarn, finish by by inserting the needle through the neck and pulling it out the other side then doing that again and tugging tightly while you snip the remaining yarn as closely as you can get to the neck, move the head around a bit and the end will work it’s way back into the body.
